Pure Taste - Bourbon Cask

Introduction

PURE TASTE is an edition available exclusively in De Molenberg Distillery visitors’ centre. The spirit is aged in a single, specific wood type, resulting in a unique taste expression.

Pure Taste Bourbon Cask is the first taste expression produced under the PURE TASTE label. This single malt whisky was aged exclusively in Bourbon casks for 36 months. These casks are made entirely of American oak. The refined hints of wood and vanilla created by this wood type during the ageing process make these traditional casks the preferred choice of most whisky distilleries. At De Molenberg Distillery, Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky undergoes basic ageing in these Bourbon casks, followed by a finish in so-called ‘Anker’ casks.

Pure Taste Bourbon Cask is an exception to this, as it is aged exclusively in Bourbon casks throughout the entire process (36 months). This produces a unique whisky: powerful and young, slightly spicy with touches of wood, apple and vanilla.
