Peated Belgian whisky following the great succes of Gouden Carolus Single Malt

After the successful launch of Gouden Carolus Single Malt in November 2013, Stokerij De Molenberg has established itself in the world of whisky  with more than to 12 international awards and exports to the Netherlands, France, Poland, Mexico and Taiwan. It was just announced that Gouden Carolus Single Malt was awarded "Silver outstanding" at the International Wine and Spirit Competition, the highest ever score for a Belgian product in this league. Also Sola Jerez, the last Anniversary Edition of Stokerij De Molenberg, was awarded a silver medal.

Building on this great success, a new project starts this summer: a peated Belgian whisky!

With the creation of a peated Belgian whisky, Stokerij De Molenberg draws on the rich history of the region around the distillery in Blaasveld. This new whisky is a beautiful link with the neighboring nature reserve Blaasveldbroek, located in the backyard of the distillery. This place was known for its peatlands from about 1100 to 1770. The peat harvesters have disappeared, but with the start of this peated whisky, the distillery brings this piece of history back to life.
