Truck driver
Rony De Wolf
You immediately recognize Rony by his tanker truck, with the license plate "Wolfke" proudly displayed behind the windshield. Always cheerful and always ready to help. It was high time to put this loyal veteran in the spotlight, as of October 2025 he will have been with us for 12 years!
How did you end up at Het Anker?
“Twelve years ago, I was looking for a new job. Actually, it was my wife who said, ‘Why don’t you check out Het Anker?’ We lived – and still live – just five minutes from the brewery. You have to know, those were different times: I just walked in, introduced myself, and the next day I was hired.”
why did you choose to work at a brewery?
“I’m the son of a café owner, my mom, and worked as a student in a beer distribution company, so the beer world has always appealed to me. I also already had some experience as a truck driver, so the combination was a natural fit.”
you are a truck driver. what does thet involve exactly?
“I actually do a bit of everything. Some days I load the tanker and drive it to the bottling plant, other days I help with warehouse management – for example loading and unloading barrels. Sometimes I make deliveries to the shop or depot. No two days are the same. I’ve done this so long now that I can tell down to the minute when my tank is full.”
““i can estimate down to the minute when my tank will be full.””
You've been working here for 12 years now. Has your job changed?
“Definitely! On my very first day, I didn’t even drive – I was filling crates with beer bottles. And during the corona period, I did all kinds of tasks. I remember once power washing the entire courtyard.”
what do you like most about workig at Het Anker?
“My colleagues have truly become my family, especially the guys at the depot. Like any family, we sometimes have discussions, but that doesn’t change the bond we share. Because I shuttle a lot between the brewery and the bottling plant, I see and know almost everyone.”
What's your favorite Het Anker beer?
“Gouden Carolus Classic, of course! You could say I’m a real ‘Classic connoisseur.’ I even have a funny story about that: years ago, I opened a bottle and after just one sip I knew something was off. I immediately reported it to the quality department, and sure enough, there was an issue with that batch.”
