6th Anniversary Edition
Esmeralda is a limited edition released to mark the 6th anniversary of De Molenberg Distillery. The initial maturing of 30 months in Bourbon casks is followed by a lengthy 48-month finish in Madeira wine casks.
Exactly 600 years ago, Portuguese explorers landed on the island of eternal spring and named it after the abundance of wood (‘Madeira’). This green emerald (‘Esmeralda’) in the Atlantic Ocean is famous for its fortified wines. The hints of raisins and nuts give this fruity, aromatic whisky an alluring elegance. The slightly sweet taste is enhanced by mild acidity flowing on to a long, rich finish.
