This light blonde specialty beer is for all 'Maneblussers,' the popular nickname for the people of Mechelen. And of course, for anyone who loves good company, celebrations, and delicious beer!
Brewery Het Anker decided to craft an easy-drinking city beer for the people of Mechelen, while ensuring it has enough character to be thoroughly enjoyed. They chose the name Maneblusser: a blonde beer with 5.8% alc. vol., offering a light citrus aroma and a refined finish, brewed using the traditional top-fermentation method.
The name "Maneblusser" was an obvious choice... On the night of January 27–28, 1687, the moon cast its glow on the spire of St. Rumbold’s Tower, which was shrouded in mist. “Fire, the tower is on fire!” shouted a drunken man. The alarm bells were rung, and everyone rushed to help. Before they could reach the spire, the moon quietly slipped through the mist. Since that night, the people of Mechelen have forever been known as the Maneblussers (Moon Extinguishers).
