Ancient recipe
Gouden Carolus Ambrio is traditionally brewed based on the centuries-old recipe of the Mechelschen Bruynen. Ambrio is an amber beer brewed with brio.
All the way from 1421
This amber-colored top-fermented beer has its origins in the traditional beer of the city of Mechelen. Just as every city had its own typical beer, the people of Mechelen drank their own amber beer for hundreds of years: "Mechelschen Bruynen." Our brewery is the only one still brewing this type of beer. According to tradition, the base recipe for this beer dates back to 1421, making it the oldest beer still brewed at the brewery.
This flavored and spicy light-brown tasting beer can be served quite cold. It is bottle-conditioned.
